After completing her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Vanessa, the Miramichi native sought out a life in Calgary , where her love for yoga, hiking and a healthy lifestyle flourished. Vanessa started envisioning a life as a yoga teacher and in 2015 she took leap of faith and followed intuition. That guiding sense lead Vanessa to complete her 200 hour Ashtanga Yoga Training at Ajarya Yoga School in the beautiful Himalayan mountains of Rishikesh, India. While studying under the Internationally recognized Swami Atma and Nagesh G. She was able to fully let go of her past and begin a life changing journey that led her back to Miramichi and to the opening of The Yoga Block.
Vanessa adores the way yoga cultivates inner peace, self- awareness and compassion for self and others. She truly believes that yoga can heal any wound - physical, mental, and emotional. Yoga is a safe space to be yourself and to show up just as you are without judgments, doubts, fears, or expectations. Vanessa takes an inviting approach to her teachings and allows students to define their own practice each time they come to their mat.

Whitney first found yoga when she needed it the most- as a busy, lost and overstressed Master’s student. Her practice began at a community-focused, accessible-to-all, yoga studio in Kingston, Ontario. She fell in love with the core beliefs and inclusivity that yoga offered. Whitney’s path has taken her to several different cities and experiences since that time. She is happy to finally settle in her hometown- the mighty, majestical, Miramichi. Whitney’s day job is working in the mental health field and she has a strong understanding and appreciation for the mind-body connection. Whitney knows first-hand how the techniques and skills taught in yoga class can translate to improvements and break-throughs in every day life.
Although not (yet) a yoga teacher, Whitney is a registered Occupational Therapist with experience working with several different client populations. Whitney is acting as our first “karma worker”. Access her at the front desk as a resource with any injury/modification questions you may have!

I spent the summer of 2017 teaching Beach Yoga along the coast of the beautiful Bay des Chaleurs in Northern NB. In addition, I have developed and offered Hike and Yoga sessions on Dalhousie Mountain, NB, incorporating the yogic elements of earth, fire, water, air and ether!

Karrie’s journey into the practice of yoga began over 20 years ago by serendipity. Often pushing and punishing her body through exercise, it was during a run one day that she stumbled across an outdoor yoga class. She felt like she had finally come home and knew yoga was something she needed to explore.
After experiencing the profound changes yoga bought to her life she wanted to share it with others. Her love of the practice and exploration of various styles led her to become a certified yoga teacher through Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training in 2007, under the guidance of the incredible Jody Myers and Silver Frith.
As a single mom of three beautiful and busy children, working multiple jobs at same time, finding time to practice was not always easy; but it was an invaluable tool for navigating life’s challenges while raising and guiding her children with an open heart. She believes in the power of yoga to ground us, connect us and build a healthy body and clear mind.
In class you can expect creative, playful and challenging flows, with a strong focus on the breath. There is an emphasis on compassion toward yourself; honouring your limitations but also testing your unlimited potential.
It’s her honour to share this practice with you.
Angie is a life loving, plant eating, bike riding, dog momma yogi. She has been practicing yoga for the past 16 years, beginning her journey while living in Vancouver. After returning to the Miramichi, she quickly realized that more yoga resources were needed here in our community and soon after became a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor. She has been sharing her love of yoga now for almost 10 years. Angie is currently studying to be an RMT and loves integrating these 2 tools that can be used to facilitate healing and help us maintain good health...mind and body. "Take care of your body. Sheri Lynn’s active lifestyle first guided her on the path to yoga. In the beginning, Sheri Lynn was looking for physical benefits; to lengthen and strengthen and prevent further strain on the body. Soon, she realized the many benefits of yoga, and began a self guided practice, incorporating yoga into her exercise routine. In 2016, Sheri Lynn took the leap to become a yoga teacher, enrolling with Breathing Space Yoga in Halifax NS. Upon completing her yoga teacher training, she started incorporating her knowledge into her career as a resource and physical education teacher.
She is excited to be able to offer her yoga students the gift of yoga as a means to ease their troubles, anxiety and pressures. Yoga has gotten her through some tough times, always giving her a safe place to land. This is where she learned to honour her body and breathe, and to find presence and the ability to let go. Ainsley is a self proclaimed tree hugging, happy hippy, yogini, itchy-toed traveller, and mama to a crazy household.
She believes that yoga and being a little bit hippy go hand in hand as a life style, bringing compassion, empathy and connection into our daily lives. Ainsley followed her itchy toes to Rishikesh, India in June 2016, where she completed her 200hr Hatha YTT certification at Shiva Yoga Peeth. Ainsley is excited to continue sharing her love of yoga, breathing and life with the community around her.

Cable Guy by Day Yogi by night! Co-owner and Karma Worker, Nick has a passion for yoga and it's ability to ease away stress, fatigue and every day aches and pains. His journey with yoga started many years ago attending regular classes in St. John's Newfoundland while living in the area as well as in Moncton NB. As a previous crossfit and marathon junkie, Nick loves the way yoga takes away the competitiveness and allows you to just be you, without comparing or judging yourself or others. Nick has a passion for meditation and can be seen in most yin classes taking an EXTRA long savasana (he loves to nap!) He encourages any guy thinking about coming to yoga to step out of their comfort zone and try a class, your mind and body will thank you "Yoga is time for myself and what's best for me that day when I show up to my mat" -Nick
Dr. TOM LEHNERT
Tom has been a doctor in Miramichi for the last 23 years. About 10 years ago his work in the Emergency Room caught up with him and he suffered from a burnout. Tom discovered meditation and mindfulness as a way to help himself. Things really started to change for him after his first meditation retreat with Jack Kornfield 7 years ago when he discovered the healing power of mindfulness and self-compassion. Realizing that meditation could help others deal with the the stress of everyday life Tom made the decision to start teaching meditation classes and has been teaching ever since. He attended many workshops and retreats throughout North America with different teachers including Jon Kabat Zinn. He is trained in MBSR ( Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction ). His daily meditation practice keeps him sane when things get rough. Tom teaches present moment awareness of breathing, body sensations, thoughts and feelings with special emphasis on self-compassion Join Tom for a mindful mediation session on Monday Evenings!
